Available as a one off workshop or as a block booking of 5 sessions, Storycise will help parents and practitioners to play more imaginatively with their little ones through books and stories.
A 5 week programme for parents/carers and their child, aiming to give the skills and confidence to make story time a regular and fun activity at home. A new book is introduced each week through an interactive read–aloud session led by our Practitioner. The group uses their imagination to creatively retell that story through dramatic play. Sessions are one hour long and include coffee and chat time at the end.
Children’s Centres may choose to invest in a library of the chosen five books and permit participants to borrow a book each week to try what they have learned at home.

Debutots have run several Storycise courses for us and I have been impressed by the practitioner’s boundless energy and enthusiasm! The sessions are carefully structured and are always lively and engaging. The Debutots practitioners are great at encouraging everyone to join in and immerse themselves in the stories. Many children attending our centre have a first language other than English. After attending the Storycise course several of these children have noticeably increased in confidence when speaking English. Parents have told us that the course has shown them how to make reading books more exciting and that their children enjoy this more as a result. I feel these sessions help families develop a love of language and books which is so important for learning and wellbeing.
